Aboriginal Motifs

Functions and Philosophies


Principals & Protocols are strict and straight forward guidelines how to use Indigenous Visual Art in a correct, non-offensive and very ethical way which works both ways. The purpose principals and protocols are in place because it uses protection of offensive and threat attacks, and encourages us to respect and use good use of conduct and promote interaction to Indigenous Visual Art in a right way. It practices good faith and mutual respect for each other. The two principals and protocols I'll discuss are Respect & Secrecy and confidentiality.

1- Respect:

We must except and respect all Indigenous people, their heritage, designs, images, stories and other cultural meanings, must be treated with respect. I believe every good work of art has a meaning behind it. Everyone is different but we are all equal.  We must respect all Indigenous Visual Artworks too. A famous quote:

“People talk about country in the same way that they would talk about a person: they speak to country, sing to country, visit country, worry about country, feel sorry for country and long for country….country knows, hears, smells, takes notice, takes care, is sorry or happy…Because of this richness, country is home, and

2-Secrecy and confidentiality


Some of the cultures materials and artworks need to be confidentially and cannot be shown to the public. Before we promote Indigenous artists and communities, we need to speak with Indigenous artists and communities how they can promote themselves to the public. Their ways of promoting it makes them feel reasonable, safe and speaking out for the right reasons too. The right reasons of what they comfortable with.


Moral Rights and Issues


Moral Rights must be taken seriously and handle issues in a high ethical way. We should do no harm what so ever to Indigenous Visual Artworks and artists.  Their rights are

1- The artist(s) enquired to display their names and their artwork clearly.
2- The artist(s) can take action of their artwork if their work is shown as someone.
3- The artist(s) can take action of their own artwork if their work as been treated as not respectable and cruel way and to a point that they been accused and messed up their reputation.

I very strongly urge and advice let's respect all artworks and artists and strongly urge do not accuse or do any harm of any sort.
